Group Tour Information

Group tours must be booked two weeks in advance, through the museum. Please email [email protected] for instructions.

We offer three themed tours:
Pre-Contact Tour

The Pre-Contact tour offers an insightful look into the rich Secwépemc history and culture before colonization. The tour starts off with a 20 minute introductory video, titled "Welcome to the Secwépemc." The video provides a short introduction to Secwépemculucw and our culture. Following the video, a guided tour includes the four galleries and the c7istkten on the Heritage Park grounds.
Residental School Tour

The Kamloops Indian Residential School tour provides an excellent learning opportunity to learn about the untold history of residential schools in Canada. The tour start with a 20 minute introductory video titled "Eyes of Children," produced by CBC. Following the video, the tour takes you into our first gallery, where a discussion is led by your guide about the history and timeline of residential schools in Canada, with an emphasis on the Kamloops Indian Residential School. The last leg of the tour brings you to the fourth floor of the residential school building, previously the boys dormatory.

Please note that, unfortunately, the Residential School Tour is not wheelchair accessible.
Elementary/Secondary School Tours

The elementary and secondary school tours offer a unique look at Secwépemc culture. A guided tour will ensure that the current BC curriculum is met for each grade. It is vital to our museum that we engage and create an open environment for children to learn and have fun. Each tour begins with a 20 minute introductory video. Following the tour, students are led through the museum and secondary school students have the option of the Pre-Contact Tour or the Residential School Tour.
